Spring Dresses

You may think that something as simple as a pretty spring dress is an easy thing to look great in- and for some girls it is. However, I have, over the years, noticed a plethora of girls attempting to look fresh in their spring dresses, only they’re appearing like overly flower adorned jezebels looking for a quick off of the road hookup. This might sound crude, but it’s true. It’s almost like some girls can’t wait for the weather to warm up so that they can get back outside wearing as little clothing in the brightest colors possible. This isn’t dressing for spring in a pretty spring dress. This is just ridiculous. Here are some ways to ensure you’re going to step out looking fabulous next spring in the perfect spring dress.

You seriously don’t have to automatically go for that short hemline. In fact, I recommend that you don’t first thing in the spring. Think about it- you’ve spent all winter covered up from head to toe in a ton of clothing. Even if you do tan or fake tan and if you’ve shaved your legs, you probably haven’t spent enough time getting the skin of your legs used to being bare in the world yet from the past season. Red, blotchy, pokey, spikey, and lumpy legs do not look great stepping out at first sign of warm weather. Ease into it. Spring dresses can be long length and still be fresh and pretty.

Color, color, color. Hey, it’s not summer yet, so try to stay away from the hot pinks and ‘blast me in the face’ yellows. Spring calls for muted, pastel, and pretty light colors that are gentle to the eyes. Take a cue from nature. Spring flowers rarely are made of bright oranges, pinks, yellows, and reds. These flowers bloom in the summer or late summer early fall. In the spring, white and lavender crocus, fluffy yellow narcissus, and light blue/purple bluebells are poking their heads up and blooming. Copy these demure spring peepers. Wait until the weather gets hot and the hot pinks come out to play. In the meantime, dabble in the pretty and airy.

Spring dresses should also emulate the fresh new breezes that carry warm and sensuous air about, waking up the flora and fauna after a long winter’s rest. The cut of the dress should blow and move, not stick tight to your behind.

Be careful with floral patterns. Geometric patterns are fine, or I should say, were fine- back in the days of the pioneers. They also belong on little girls’ clothing, not yours. Fresh and updated floral designs, usually artsy, suggestive prints and large representations of florals are nice. I prefer solid spring dresses, especially ones in a pretty light and fresh green. But if you must wear a floral, pick something with class and something that doesn’t wash you out or make you look like you’re wearing a mumu.

Spring dresses can be beautiful, but there are a lot of crazy and ridiculous ideas for spring dresses out there. Follow these simple ideas, and you’ll be well on your way to a good start and a good spring in your perfect spring dresses!
